]]>Even though everybody is trying to save the earth, nothing's getting done?
Every other commercial I see is for a better world, yet I don't see much more than that.
I see hybrids on the road, but I don't see a huge increase in carpooling and public transportation.
The only effect I see is stinginess with the money NOT spent on gas, and a lot more "Save the World" T-shirts at the mall.
Personally, there's not much I can do. I recycle, I take the bus, and I walk places whenever I can. There are thousands of people like me, yet we're outnumbered ten to one by people who could care less.
I've noticed, next to the "Save the Earth" shirts(theres nothing wrong with those, I've got two of 'em) there's a huge increase in peace signs.
Yeah, they're cool, and all, but the peace sign is losing it's value.
I wear peace signs because I'm truly opposed to war, and violence. If I flash the occasional peace sign in a picture, it's for the same reason. I have a shirt and a necklace with this little nod to serenity, and I wear them proudly. However, since everyone is wearing them, the peace sign has become another trend...
Just like fighting to Save the Earth.

]]>I found a Twilight role playing game. I was checking it out, and I'm not sure whether to love it or leave it.
In a role playing game, people sign up and send in applications for certain characters.
When most of the characters are filled, the fun begins- people act as their characters. A typical post goes like this:
Responding to Jacob's taunting words, Bella spun around. As she glared at his smug face, she felt a feral snarl rip out through her bared teeth. "Don't push me, Jacob," she growled. "You're my best friend, but I swear, if you annoy me one bit, I will rip your head off."
The reply:
Jacob saw Bella's teeth, glistening with venom. He shuddered internally and held his hands out in mock surrender. "Easy, Bells. I promise, I'll try to ease up on the whole 'bloodsucker' thing." He hadn't realized it bothered her that much.
Yes, this would be interesting, if everyone wrote like that. Most people write more like this:
"She heard what he said. She turned around. She glared at him. She growled. She said, 'Don't push me, Jacob. I'll rip your head off if you bug me."
The reply:
He saw her growling. He didn't like it. He said, "I'll try to stop."
Needless to say, that can get a but dull.
By the time I signed up, all the fun main characters were filled. I chose to sign up for Tanya Denali, the leader of a coven of vampired who live in Denali, Alaska. (In the last book, I grew inexplicably fond of her and her coven- Hence, the oliviadenali name on the blog.
So, I'm torn. I'm stuck, now- I have to post every so often to keep from losing my spot as Tanya. I'm sure I will, and hopefully the quality of the game will improve as more members join.

Then, I printed it out, scanned it in to my other computer (which had internet, the other didn't) and put it on Myspace... When I got my new computer, took it from Myspace and fixed it a bit, better quality, etc.
"Layers" tool. Made my hair darker, and my skin paler and more... glowy? I don't know how to describe it.

Thanks again to my AWESOME mom, who agreed she would drive me to Seattle for the Twilight Convention, if that's where it's held.
Of course, she'd also drive me to Phoenix, since those look like the top 2 contenders for location.
Personally, I hope it's in Seattle--
If so, my mom and I will take a road trip, stopping at the Winchester Mystery House, and in San Fransisco to take a Haunted Hotels tour. Then, up to TwiCon, and at some point we'll go to Forks!!

Which is preferable, Harry Potter or Twilight?
I say, choose both.
Though Harry Potter is appropriate and appealing to any age or gender, I would have to say that Twilight is an easier and yet just as absorbing read.
The first book in the Harry Potter series draws you in to a magical world of adventure, magic, and myth. It's well written and entertaining, with lovable (and not-so-lovable) characters.
However, as you near the end or the series, the books become darker and deeper. There are tangled story lines with barely noticeable clues that can sometimes be hard to wrap your head around.
At the beginning of the Twilight series, you are introduced to a shy, clumsy, average 17 year old girl, who moves to live with her father in a small town and falls in love with ultimate Mr. Perfect (and vampire) Edward Cullen. As she is drawn into this world of monsters and myths, you are as well. It's a love story-- with bite.
As the Twilight series draws to an end (well, we hope not), the story remains just as clear as on page 1. There are a few well balanced subplots, and, in my opinion, plenty of surprises that keep the story flowing in the same exciting manner as the adventures of our favorite boy wizard.
I may sound as if I am biased toward Twilight, but you have to understand just how untrue that is. I'd been a diehard Harry Potter fan for 7 years(no joke!) when I wandered toward the rack proclaiming the wonders of 'Twilight'. The story and it's ever increasing popularity had always been irksome to me-- there was NOTHING better that Harry Potter.
Noting that the first novel was only ten dollars, I purchased it, and settled down onto my couch a few minutes later, resigned to uncover the source of all the hype.
I didn't move from that couch until I finished the book 4 hours later.
My faith in JK Rowling was shaken as I rushed out the next morning to buy New Moon, the second book in the series.
The day after, I snagged a copy of Eclipse, the third novel.
I was hooked.
After frantic research, I realized that the release of Breaking Dawn was just 3 weeks away!
After I had reserved my copy, I went Twilight mad, buying a shirt and rereading each of the books at least 6 times(again, no joke) until Breaking Dawn came out.
I read for 6 and a half hours that night, and it was amazing.
I laughed a little as I realized that if you had told me a year ago that I would have found a series just as good as Harry Potter, I would have laughed at you.
Well, now you see my point of view. As a teenage girl, I'm a target audience for both books.
I can't choose one over the other, but if I had to, the sheer wonder of Twilight's intricate yet obvious love story would win me over.
I know this is a long and painstaking way to say it, but...
Since I'll never have to choose between Harry Potter or Twilight, I say, why can't I have them both?
